[FAQ] What happens if there’s bad weather?

Okinawa is famous for its blue skies and sparkling seas, but however, like every stunning island, its weather is ever changing! But don’t worry! If we are forced to cancel due to bad weather, we’ll provide you with a few alternatives:

① If you’ll only be in Okinawa for a few days, change the shoot day to another day
(May not always be possible depending on our availability)
② Reschedule the shoot to a different time in the future
③ Change to a studio-only photshoot
(Can be changed to a beach shoot if the weather improves abruptly)

1. What happens if there’s bad weather?

Your photoshoot may be suddenly cancelled due to extreme weather conditions such as typhoons or heavy monsoon rains. In this case, we will contact you to choose between one of our 3 alternatives listed above.

We follow the local weather forecast reflected on the Japan Metreological Agency for the Okinawa Main Island (Northern Area). We will contact you if the rain forecast for your photoshoot day is shown to be 80% or higher on the day before. As Okinawa’s weather can be unpredictable in certain periods, we rely only on local forecasts, and not national (all of Japan) forecasts.

Regardless, we will contact you the day before of your photoshoot, so do feel free to let us know if you have any requests or concerns.

2. What if we need to cancel our shoot?

If we choose to cancel your photoshoot due to weather, please be assured that you will not be charged any cancellation fees.
However please note that even in this case, the credit card or bank transfer fees (4%) will not be refunded.

If you cancel for any reason, the cancellation fees are as follows:
1 month ~ 7 days before 50%
6 days ~ 2 days before 50% + Additional 10% per day
The day before or the day of 100%

3. Rescheduling your photoshoot

If you are only visiting Okinawa for a few days, we recommend booking your shoot with us as early as possible in your trip. Okinawa has many rainy days throughout the year, and it may sometimes rain and on and off during the day as well. So if it is forecasted to rain heavily on the day of your shoot, we may be able to reschedule to a different day on your trip.
(This is subject to our availability.)

If it is cloudy or only drizzling, we will charge a cancellation fee if you decide to cancel the shoot.

4. Cloudy & Rainy photos

While we understand that many people come to Okinawa to take vibrant wedding or anniversary photos with the blue skies and glittering seas as the backdrop, the weather can be hard to predict and control, so we’d like to showcase some shots with a slightly different feel.

The rainy or cloudy weather can add a sense of nostalgia and intimacy, and will look very gorgeous as well. Here’s a selection of photos of some moody, cloudy, drizzly shots.

However, if you’re not interested in slightly moody vibes, our professional photographers will edit your photos to emulate brighter skies. Check out the photos below! Can you tell that they were taken in a drizzle?
